The BDO International network was founded in Europe in 1963 when forward-thinking accountancy firms from the UK, Germany, The Netherlands, USA and Canada joined to form the Binder Seidman International Group. Ten years later, the European member firms took on the common name of Binder Dijker Otte & Co.

The current world wide structure of the network was put in place in 1988, including the use of the BDO acronym before Member Firms names, and the implementation of the BDO logo and corporate identity.

In 2008 BDO continued to expand, and currently has representation in 111 countries with over 626 offices..




The distinctiveness of BDO

We believe our distinctiveness is in the way we achieve responsive local service backed by the impressive resources of a major global organisation. In particular:

  • Member firms retain a local identity, which reinforces the spirit of local service to the subsidiaries of our international clients;
  • BDO is the largest and most diverse professional services organisation outside the 'Big 4', by a margin; and
  • We share the same ideals, approach to client service and methodologies across all 626 offices and 111 countries in which we operate.
